The doors to a revived 1960s beach treasure, a family tree house inspired by a Californian dream and historic homestead will be open for public viewing at the 2023 Sunshine Coast Open House event. Properties open for inspection between 21 and 22 October include Eumundi House by Peter Ireland, Banksia House by Dragi Majstorovic at Kings Beach, Hodgson House in Currimundi by Laura Hodgson and the Art Room in Tinbeerwah by Bark Architects.
Two new exhibitions at the Art Collective WA showcase the works of photographers Brad Rimmer and Patrick Brown, who both examine the passing of time through images of Western Australia. Rimmer's Nowhere Near exhibition features shots of town halls, once buzzing with farming communities, now often lying destitute, while Brown's Hope exhibition, which was shot over the period of a year, explores the vulnerabilty of human existence and the bitter sweet duality of hope and despair humans experience in the face of planetary challenges.
Geelong Design Week returns this month, featuring more than 50 exhibitions, talks, film premieres, and unique experiences that will surprise and delight audiences. Taking place between 19 and 29 October, program highlights include Challenges of Small Business and Design: Greenhouse Interiors, Local Designers Showcase - Lighting, Furniture and Fabric Design featuring Kip and Co, Sundown Lighting, Ross Thompson and Two Lines Studio and Collective Architecture Exhibition by Architects from Geelong and the Surf Coast.
Spectra showcases the diversity of furniture design in Southeast Queensland, with works by established craftsmen and emerging talents. The exhibition runs from 9 September, 2023 to 20 January, 2024. The line-up will feature a range of works from various furniture design studios including CJ Anderson, Fearon, Isaac Chatterton, Jay Jermyn, Mast Furniture, Ross Annels, and Studio Flek.
The Housing First Annual Art Exhibition, taking place between 6 October and 3 November, is set to challenge the way people think about communities living in social housing. 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the visual art exhibition, with this year's line-up featuring more than 60 artworks by 43 residents from Melbourne's social housing. Participants are provided all materials and equipment necessary to develop their own works for the exhibition, as well as have been mentored through workshops for a period of six months pre-exhibition.
